A shy introverted young man is transformed from apparent psychosomatic retardation into a charismatic outgoing individual who strives to save his family.

This is the story of ANTHONY "COOL" DAVIS. A brilliant young man confined mentally and physically by a psychosomatic illness created within his own mind. Cool's dream to become normal materializes when his father, CHARLES, inadvertently introduces him to a beautiful medical student named Tracey. Tracey helps the young man unlock long buried family secrets that could potentially cure him, but these secrets also carry the risk of breaking his family apart. Charles and his wife Debra, have a rocky, although sometimes comical marriage to begin with. Their relationship deteriorates even further when Charles discovers Debra has had an affair, and that Cool may not even be his son. Cool's mind and spirit are healed with Tracey's guidance, and Cool is able to help his family when he is set free from the chains of his own internal demons. Although many of the moments are hysterically funny and equally as tender, saving the American family is the heart of Cool's struggle.
